Academics - Graduation Requirements
The program of studies at Metro-East Lutheran High School includes a college preparatory program and a general program. The general program reflects simply the minimum requirements for graduation. All students are encouraged to adopt the recommendations of the college preparatory program, which is designed to meet the requirements of colleges and universities in and out of state. The academic program is based on a seven (7) period day (8:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.) and a traditional school year (176 days from mid-August through May). Band is offered as an extra period (0 hour) that does not conflict with other classes. Many students enroll in seven academic classes each semester. Students must take at least six academic classes with the seventh period being a study period. Twenty-four (24) credits are required to graduate. These include twenty credits in the various disciplines and four credits in Religion (one semester credit for each semester of attendance).
The general studies program reflects the graduation requirements for Metro-East Lutheran High School and the State of Illinois. Other requirements for graduation include successful completion of the US and Illinois Constitution tests. |
